So what exactly is southwestern home decor and how can you introduce it into your own home? Well, to begin with southwestern home decor reflects the southwest and all its best traits. Southwestern home decor uses colourful throw rugs, gorgeous wall hangings, and if you look hard enough, you can even find great kitchen accessories as well.
If you’re considering introducing southwestern home decor into your residence, first of all, you have to determine whether it will blend in with your existing decor or whether it will clash badly. Almost all southwestern home decor involves bright, eye-catching colours and stunning designs and motifs.
So, if your existing furniture would clash with any of these beautiful pieces, you can do one of two things. First up, you could always just throw out every single piece of unwanted furniture that you have and replace them with gorgeous pieces of southwestern home decor. Or you could just buy one or two pieces of the southwestern home decor range and match them carefully with your existing knick-knacks.
Personally speaking, I would rather replace everything I have since there’s some wear, but in reality that’s just not possible. For one thing it would just be way over my budget, and for another I would rather not have to listen to a lecture from my mother about extravagance. I’ve found out that you can get away from from your friends but not from your mother!
However, I’m also a little happy that I didn’t give into my initial impulse and renovate everything in the southwestern home decor style. Granted that it does look great, but sometimes I also like the peace and quiet that some of my other pieces of furniture bring about in me. Therefore, I have now come up with the perfect solution and have instead resorted to purchasing one-off pieces that attract my attention and sprinkling my home with those instead.
And I have to say that its made quite a difference to the look and feel of my entire home. Lush and rich pieces of the more traditional furniture now sit quite comfortably next to the more flamboyant and stunning designs of my southwestern home decor. I’ve even bought a great rug for my bathroom floor and a beautiful set of hand towels. My kitchen has a new set of southwestern motifs, and my foyer has the most amazing lampshade and statuette in prominent view.
Although all of this sounds a bit much, I’ve found that this is the easiest way to bring the splendours of southwestern home decor into your life, without going the whole hog and replacing my entire house with southwestern decor and motifs.
After all, you only want to bring a dash of southwestern decor to your home, not the whole sheebang. Oh, and did I forget to mention the beautiful tapestry I bought the other day? It’s just perfect.

When people start thinking about living room decorating ideas and making changes to their residence, whether it be one or two rooms or even the complete house, the first thing that usually comes to mind is ‘what colour’. Usually, people choose colours that they like or those which correspond with pieces of their existing furniture. When searching for living room decorating ideas, one idea which is perhaps too often overlooked is decorating with the two basic colours (or shades, to be accurate) ” black and white.
Black and white, when used in decorating demonstrates style and creates drama. Top interior designers say that every room in the house could benefit from using a slash of black. Black is a colour which anchors and stabilizes a room. Bringing sophistication, black is certainly a colour that requires attention. Living room decorating ideas for a home using black may include accessories such as light fixtures, trim or furniture. Black serves to bring definition to the focal points in a room. Black is just one of the colours that stands out, but it is definitely one of the most eye-catching!
Decorating with the shades of black and white in your living room decorating ideas, provides a clean, fresh, elegant atmosphere. This combination can be added to any room in a home making it a sophisticated area. Black and white are frequently used in contemporary interior design and often used to highlight other colours in the French Country style. It may be hard to conceptualize but there are many ideas for decorating a home using combinations of only these two basic shades.
The flooring is a great area to start when you’re having living room decorating ideas. Black and white vinyl tiles laid alternately make a beautiful checkered pattern and gives a clean and elegant appearance. Black marble used on the floor, accented by wide white baseboards is another beautiful idea for decorating a home. Laying white ceramic tiles with a black border or simply painting the floor black or white and using stencils of the opposite colour for decoration is also stunning. These all are fantastic ideas for decorating a home.
Can you think of anything more perfect than white walls in the Mediterranean style? Painting the walls white or even an off-white, say smoke-white or apple-whitemakes an ideal backdrop for accessories such as paintings framed in black. Great living room decorating ideas! Elegant black window surrounds or black shutters against a clean, crisp white wall would certainly create an aura of sophistication. Perhaps a glass-topped table with a black iron trim and black chairs? These are great ideas for decorating a home using only black and white.
A bedroom decorated using black and white would be beautiful stylish home decor too. A black or white iron bed-frame, covered with a striped black and white duvet or eiderdown. For the pillow cases, you could use either all black or all white and could add throw cushions in the opposite colour.
A chunky leather black or white armchair in the corner would certainly accent the living room decorating ideas. Then you could have the white walls with a sophisticated piece of artwork, framed in black, hanging on it. That would surely add to the modern feel of your living room decorating ideas. Black furniture against the stark white walls would look really neat and tidy and you could jazz it all up with accessories like pewter or silver candlesticks, jugs or vases.
If you think the stylish home decor needs a little colour to complete the look, perhaps a throw or cushion in a bold color like red or gold, for the chair in the corner of the room would be enough to accent the room. Ideas for decorating a home are numerous. However, finding one that suits you and those that live in your home with you is important. It’s nice to do something radical and off-the-wall but remember you must be able to live with it for quite a while.

Teen rooms are the bane of mothers everywhere. It’s not even like when they were younger. In those days, if their rooms were in a mess, you could shout at them and get them to clean it up, and, barring that, you could go in and do it. But when it comes to teens and their rooms you’re dealing with a whole different kettle of fish.
Yes, you could go and tell them to tidy up their rooms. And true, you could shout at them a little too, if you wanted to, or you could go and clean up the room yourself. However, that’s when the trouble begins. Teen rooms are sacred places and not to be interfered with unless you’re invited to.
Woe betide anyone who dares to move even one inch of that mess on the carpet. It was there for a good reason and you had absolutely no right to move it. At least, that will be the argument of most teens, and you being the patient, caring mother that you are, will just roll your eyes and tell them that the whole pizza and day-old shirt thing just don’t go well together and you were just rescuing them from the anger of the stalking pizza slice.
Your teens will in turn roll their eyes and protest loudly, not to exaggerate, it wasn’t about to grow legs and walk off on its own, and if it was then wouldn’t that make a great science project. So, you keep cleaning and they keep putting things back. And so ends the story, and you’re right back to square one.
Of course, one way that you could deal with this bomb site is to redecorate it. Teen rooms might be sanctities to them, but even they would like it if you gave their rooms a great makeover.
That doesn’t mean that the room will be any tidier after they have moved back in, but at least you’ll have been able to seen the inside of the room long enough to tide you over for the next few years. That is unless you’re thinking of redecorating their rooms every year.
But now you come to your next problem, since teens are famously unusual with regard to their rooms. You might find that your teen rooms are done out quite differently from that which you had anticipated and that which you would have done beforehand. This is where a comprise should be struck, if your teen demands black walls in his room, then say you want to use another colour too that will offset the black.
Be prepared to give in a little on your ideas no matter how silly their ideas are. After all, they’re only a teen for a while and later they will look back with horror on what bad taste they had.
So, it is your duty as a parent to allow them these fleeting moments in their lives so that they can look back on them with mock horror and disallow their own children from doing the same to their own teen rooms.

For people who seem to have everything or for the people who are bored with their lifestyle, there are several things that they can do to spruce-up their lives. Maybe one of the best ways though is to begin redecorating one’s home. Some of the first places you should consider redecorating are your bathroom and kitchen.
These are often the most overlooked and yet, most often used rooms in the entire house. Just think about it, have you spruced up at least even one of these rooms in the past few years? The answer is probably “no”, in which case, try to think back to the last time you even looked closely at your bathroom or kitchen other than to Spring clean them.
Probably, if you noticed anything at all, you put the notion off until a future date when you could devote more time to decorating your bathroom or kitchen, although at that time, the place certainly didn’t look as old as it does now, after all, the years soon add up and even though you’ve been keeping it rigorously clean you can’t stop the slow progress of time.
The chances are that if you were to take a closer look now, you’ll find that the curtains are looking a bit shabby and ragged around the edges, as are the bathroom rugs. And let’s not even talk about the soap dish. It is quite true that they don’t make them like they used to, and with very good reason too!
So, do yourself a favour and throw out all that unnecessary clutter in the bathroom and get yourself some new accessories – you will be astonished at what lovely things you can find nowadays. Anyway, you’ve probably been eyeing that lovely bathroom set you saw in the shop for some time, so at the very least now you will have a good reason to go out and treat yourself.
And while you’re at it, you might as well buy that lovely new salt and pepper set you saw for the kitchen and a few mats that can be used in either room. Ideally, they should be resilient to such everyday occurrences like water spillage, soap, oil grease, fat and all the other things that somehow seem to become ground into your carpets.
However, if you’re looking for a few new ideas about decorating your bathroom or your kitchen, there are a number of resources for you to get your inspiration from. The best I’ve found are the catalogues you can browse through to your heart’s content.
With all these options, you can even swap something that is less expensive for the things you see in the catalogues. This then, is the best way to get your decorating projects off the ground and to keep yourself amusingly busy for some time to come and to transform your long suffering bathroom and kitchen into new and sparkling areas.

Your house is finally spick and span and you sit down and put your feet up for a minute with a nice cup of coffee by the side of you and you pick away at your muffin. You feel worn out but it’s that good kind of tired when you know you’ve done a hard day’s work and you have no regrets about it. A feeling of contentment settles on you and you look around you with satisfaction.
A magazine lies in front of you appealingly within reach and you give in and pull it to you, intent on enjoying a well-earned rest. The top cover story jumps out at you, entitled ‘Country Home Decor’. Naturally you flip through eagerly to that very section, you had only just seen an article on some stylish country home decor or turning your house into a small country haven in another magazine and it had interested you.
Page upon page of the magazine is filled with what can only be described as the most perfect country home decor you can imagine. You gaze longingly at the various styles and furnishings you see gracing the magazine’s pages. A quick look up from your magazine assures you that your own modest home hasn’t changed magically into one of those lovely country homes you were just looking at.
A sad sigh passes your lips at the realization and so you go back to reading your magazine article. You had never realized that you were the type of person who could stand the country home decor style but now upon consideration you think you just might be able to.
Now without your even realising it, you begin marking the pages that fascinate you the most, doing small mental calculations on how best to achieve the same effect but on the more modest budget that you have to spend. After all, it just wouldn’t do to fork out for that lovely Welsh dresser and have to go without your freshly ground whole bean coffee, would it?
But, you could definitely go for that beautiful table runner without too much of a problem. And if you donated all those modern chrome coffee mugs and dinner sets to charity you wouldn’t really be splashing out, would you, since you would have already done your best for charity and given them all these things?
And what about exchanging those flashy blinds for something that’s a bit more in the country home decor style. And while you’re going about it, perhaps you could even swap that ugly lampshade you received as a Christmas gift for something a little more country.
The only thing that is left for you to do now is to lie back and enjoy the results of your labours and gaze with open pride upon your beautifully redecorated home. Furnished, naturally enough, in the best country home decor style that you could cull from every source that you found, like that first magazine article that spurred it all off way back when.

So, one day, fabric shower curtains went the way of the dodo and glass shower doors became all the rage. But, like most fads, common sense resurfaced and the fashions that once were, have come back as they do. You’ll now find that fabric shower curtains are all the rage once again and are easily available from most stylish home decor stores.
However, don’t rush to get rid of your old glass doors just yet. The cleanliness and smart look of the glass doors seem to be firmly entrenched with some people. Adherents of glass doors will swear by them and will even sometimes be ready to lay down their reputations for them.
You’ll discover, when discussing fabric shower curtains, that their owners are laid back and will smile when asked about their preferences. Naturally, they’ll defend their fabric shower curtains but they also admit to seeing the benefits of glass shower doors as well. No dripping from the bottom of the curtain, no constantly damp curtain folds that need to be separated out each morning in order to prevent mildew.
Most convenient of all, is the easy cleaning granted by glass shower doors. However, as the fans of fabric shower curtains will also tell you, glass doors have their disadvantages too, the biggest of which being that if you permit the cleaning of the doors to slide for even one week, stains will begin to form along the sides where they’re fixed to the wall and some of these seem to have a much stronger will than you do.
And if you don’t perform a good regular cleaning of the glass shower doors, your otherwise nice clean bathroom will start to look rather grubby. The reason though why fabric shower curtains are an all time favourite of many people in the know, is for just one reason and one reason only. This is also what leads these people to have a smug smile on their faces even after they’ve just spent the last half hour sponging their bathroom. Fabric shower curtains are disposable and therefore can be changed easily.
Yes, that’s the one whopping big reason why fabric shower curtains are still a firm favourite of a lot of people. Have you ever tried changing your glass doors on a regular basis? It just won’t happen and its doubtful if it will ever happen within a span of five years, unless that is you take a very large sledgehammer to it by accident.
So, now you know the reason behind that mysterious smile and why fabric shower curtains never really went out of style. Convenience, more convenience and still more convenience. So if you’re considering of swapping from your glass shower doors to the more convenient, disposable fabric shower curtains don’t be put off by having to get started
Once you remove those doors, your life is bound to become easier, and if it’s not, just exchange one pair of fabric shower curtains for new ones. If nothing else it’ll make you feel better!

It’s been at least a year now since you moved to your new work place and officially took over your new office. At first, you were busy decorating your new home and learning a new job, but now that you’re settled in you start noticing the same things that you noticed when you first arrived.
The walls are a boring, drab colour and looking decidedly depressing, the sun streaming in through the heavy duty blinds is barely enough to light a mouse hole and the furniture is just about as grotty and plain as it can get. You reckon that an acceptable amount of time has passed for you to start an office decorating project.
Naturally, before you start it’s always a good idea to make certain that the powers that be don’t have a problem with your redecoration plans. And remember that it is only an office and so you should treat your decorating plans as such.
Emulsioning the walls a snazzy red colour possibly might not work. However, you could brighten things up a bit by repainting the walls a bright and jolly colour that won’t upset anyone, least of all you. Then you could always take down those old blinds that have been hanging there since the early’70’s and replace them with something more pleasing and more functional.
On the other hand, if the whole of the office is done up in the same style with the same blinds hanging on every window, your a la mode changes might not go down too well with your co-workers. So, think twice before doing something drastic that changes the whole style and dynamic of the entire office.
There are, however, easier ways you can carry out your office decorating project without too much hassle on your part and which doesn’t necessarily need to be thought over too much. You can brighten up any room by placing a couple of flowering plants here and there around your office.
But, if you’re at all like me and you don’t have green fingers or if your presence is death to any plants near you, then maybe you shouldn’t bother with plants. You could however bring in some bright prints and hang them up on your walls. Or perhaps you have kids and they have painted some lovely pictures for you.
These also work well, and will show your colleagues a different side of you. Don’t get stressed out over anything though. You really don’t need a simple redecorating project to add to the rest of your worries and besides an office decorating project should be fun and stress free.
Remember, your office decorating project should not entail your turning the whole office, or yourself, on its head. It should be something that you can live with on a daily basis.
After all, you work in your office for most of the day, so it ought to be a place where you can feel just as relaxed as you are in your own home.

Yes! Yes, yes, and yes a thousand times more. That was the answer you gave two weeks ago when your boyfriend took you out to dinner and proposed. There was no hesitation in your mind then and there really isn’t any now. The only thing that you’re hung up on though is the actual details of the wedding.
Your boyfriend, now your fiance is all laid back and casual and said that anything you want is OK with him. He was sure that you would do a great job, just tell him if you wanted anything.
That’s all well and good, and normally you would have relished the chance, in fact you did jump at the chance. But now you’re getting confused about what to do for your wedding decorating ideas. The motifs are all blending as one into your brain and you still don’t know where to hold the reception.
Of course, you could have the reception in an up-scale hotel with the works, everything catered for and all the niggily little details taken care of, but that seemed so impersonal, and you really want your wedding to be one that you, and everyone else, will remember for the rest of your life. So what should you do now?
Well, first and foremost, just take a deep breath and relax. Working yourself up into a frenzied state won’t help. Next gather your bridesmaids, and anyone else you trust, to your side and have a council of war.
This is where you will hammer out the details and get a fresh perspective and new ideas on your planning, and where most of all, you can have some fun with your wedding decorating ideas. You’ll be just amazed at how many great ideas a bunch of people can get if they’re working together on something like wedding decorating ideas with wedding cards being only a small part of it.
So you start with an idea, perhaps to have the all of the cards handmade so that they become extra special to you as time goes by. Someone else has the fantastic idea of getting a load of those little disposable cameras so that those who wanted to, would be able to take photos, and you’d end up with a great many more candid pictures than you otherwise would have had.
Yet another person suggests a great overall design theme. Your wedding decorating ideas are now flowing fast and furious as one person after another chimes in giving you all the assistance you need to sort out your wedding plans.
However, it is your mother who comes up with the best wedding decorating ideas of all and such like being the least of all her concerns! Maybe|Perhaps you’d like to get married and then have your reception at their place.
They could put up a large tent to cater for all the guests, and the house could be done up to suit the occasion. And you say, ‘Yes’, again because there’s nothing you want more than to get married from home.

If you’re redecorating your home, naturally you’ll want only the best. However, often you’ll find that the best comes with an expensive price tag attached to it as well. Unfortunately, many of us can’t afford to splash out on the finer things in life, especially if we’re redecorating our homes.
That’s when the many discount home decor stores will come to your rescue. In these stores you’ll find that sometimes, small miracles can happen and that you’re actually getting those finer things in life at a fantastic discount price.
Some of the best discount home decor can be found at your local department stores. That’s probably the last place you’d think to look for discounts but if you get the timing right, seasonal sales will drive the prices down to match discount store prices. Nothing gets better than that, especially if you don’t really want to spend hours going around searching for discount stores or warehouses.
Which, naturally enough, brings us to our next discount home decor stop: discount warehouses. In these you’re presented with a large range of choice from which you can purchase your discount home decor and fittings. These large warehouse stores are ideal if you don’t mind taking the time to browse a bit.
Be warned though, that if you buy from these discount warehouses, you’re just as likely to see your perfect wall-hanging in your neighbors house as well. You should also go prepared to keep a tight grasp on your wallet as some of the items will simply call out to you and never let you go. In this case, you’ll find your new discount home decor items have multiplied substantially more in number than what you originally went in the warehouse to buy.
Another good method, and one which I constantly use, is the Internet discount stores. Just typing in the words Discount Home decor into any Internet search engine will yield such a magnitude of results that you might even become inundated.
The best way to deal with this is simply to look through a few of the returned stores and find a store that you like. As you progress, you can always cull many of them and find ones that better suit your needs more exactly.
The Internet option is also very good, if you decide to go through your local department store’s Internet web site as well. Often, you’ll find a variety of items at discount store prices that you wouldn’t se at the store itself.
Delivery of your discount home decor items purchased over the Internet is also usually very low or sometimes even free, if you spend over a certain amount.
Any or all of these options is a great way to start redecorating your home. And you’ll find that with a little effort and forethought on your part, you can find discount home decor that will not only suit your budget but which will also look great in your home. And ultimately that’s all that really matters.

Are you the kind of person who is always changing or redoing your room or even your house? Do you find yourself more satisfied and fulfilled when you’re doing this than when you’re doing any other kind of job? Then perhaps you might want to look into a career change such as going for interior design jobs.
If you’re stuck in a rut of a job and want to go for something completely different, then this might be exactly what you’re looking for. Working in interior design jobs is an enjoyable and profitable way for you to spend your working life and if you play your cards right, then there will be quite a lot of benefit to you.
Before you run off and quit your present job though, I’d recommend that you to think about it very carefully. Remember that, although the market for interior design jobs is definitely there, most interior design jobs are for the self-employed and you will have to bid for each job, so if you do decide to get on the bandwagon, you might not actually get any jobs in the beginning.
Therefore, you should first make absolutely certain that interior designing is really for you. And if it is, then make sure that you have saved enough money for you to be able to live comfortably until your new career takes off.
If this doesn’t sound quite as interesting to you now as it did, you could always stay in your old job and continue with any interior design jobs that you might get at the same time until you feel confident enough to make a choice between the two. It’s probably a safe bet to assume that by that time, you would have made up your mind whether you wanted to continue chasing interior design jobs or not.
Furthermore, you also have the choice of attending an interior design college or taking some interior design courses, on or off line, to increase your interior design knowledge. This is a really good way for you to put your toes in the water before you take too much risk. An additional plus with either of these options is that they can be completed easily and shouldn’t present you with any real problems.
Taking any of these courses will only boost your natural abilities and bring to the fore any talent you have in the field of interior designing. This in turn makes it easier for you to go in for more interior design jobs by giving you a boost in confidence and knowledge, so that you’re more prepared to stand up to whatever comes along.
The most difficult part will be taking that all important first step of coming out your nice safe job to go out into the unknown world of bidding for interior design jobs. However, for the person who’s got the interior design bug, there’s no better way to satisfy their interest than by going for interior design jobs. You’ll find your energy levels and creativity blooming like never before.
